As soon as possible after January 1, 2008 , complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), available online at www.fafsa.ed.gov . Note: your marital status for the academic year is determined by the date you submit your FAFSA; if you are planning to be married and want to be considered a married student for financial aid purposes, you should wait until after your marriage to submit your FAFSA.
NEW FOR 2008-2009: once we receive your FAFSA, we will contact you, usually by email, to let you know we have received the results. If we need any other forms, such as tax returns, we will also notify you at that time. DO NOT submit tax returns unless we specifically request them.
Students can track which forms have been received and which are still
needed by accessing the My Info site at http://www.myinfo.wisc.edu
(you will need your campus ID and PIN to log onto this web site).
Or, if you have a NetID, track your status at My UW https://my.wisc.edu.
Special Students who enroll as a University Special, School Special
or College Special, do not qualify for federal aid programs (except
for EDCS or UNRS students who may qualify for Federal Stafford Loan).
Note: Financial Aid is given on an annual basis. A
student must reapply each year.
